Move your body - workout tips for working mothers
Maybe you are best mother, best
wife, smart at work, but all this will continue to be so only if you take care
of yourself. That should always be in our priority list. You cannot give any
lame excuses like lack of time or expect others to do this for you. We must
just tame our mind to accept the fact that "I must take a good care of
myself".
Finding long hours to do exercise
is generally not a practical solution, yes, we accept the facts.
But we can think of ways to
incorporate some exercise in our daily routine and thus ensure our body muscles
makes some moves and do not go stiff and hard. Here are a few tips to get
started:
1. Walk whenever possible. Walking
is the best exercise.
2. Do meditation or Pranayama for
5-10 minutes in the morning, listen to your breath. Let us slow down a little
and listen to ourselves.
3. Find 30 minutes in the morning
or in the evening and do warm up exercises, yoga (if you are trained), Zumba, cardio,
Pilates or anything that you love. Make sure you are trained in the movements
and do not hurt yourself.
4.Use stairs instead of lift. Trust
me, this helps a lot in building stamina. I have seen people who use stairs
just to go to the very next floor and find difficulty in climbing stairs.
5. Make sure you do not sit continuously
when you are at work. Just stand up and move around occasionally. Whenever I must
talk to colleagues, I prefer going to their desk and talk in person rather than
over Skype. That's good not just for our health, but also has professional
gains.
6. Skipping - back to school days!
Keep a skipping rope in an easily accessible place, you will find yourself
skipping when you pass by the rope.
7. Involve your family in the
workout. If you have a kid, ask them to join you. Not only the exercise is going
to be fun but also your kid is going to develop a very good habit that will
help him in the future.
8. Listening to your favorite songs
while doing exercise can make things easier and helps to relax our mind.
9. There are various mobile
applications that will help you to track the individual exercise as well as
your exercise routine. You can check when was the last time you did exercise
and for how long. This chart will give you some push to do more and better.
Happy exercising and take care!
