Cherupayar Parippu(Moong dal) moleshyam/mulakushyam

Moleshyam is a simple dish that is prepared in Kerala, whenever you are in hurry/sick/tired or when you prefer a side dish. The texture would generally be thin/running and often taken with hot rice. Yesterday when I was really tired after a hectic day, my mother-in-law shared this recipe. I felt this as very simple and little different from general moleshyam recipes. Here it goes...
You need only 5 ingredients:
Moong dal/ cherupayar parippu – 1 cup
Shallots – 3
Pepper powder – 1 tsp

Salt – as per taste
Turmeric powder –1/4 tsp

Now coming to the preparation:
Take 1 cup of moog dal/cherupayar parippu.
Wash it well. Strain the water out of it.
Put it in a pressure cooker and roast it for a few minutes. Slight roasting will do and do not roast till it turns red. Then dal would take time to get cooked.
Add enough water to cook dal.
Add salt, turmeric powder and pepper powder.
Cook the dal. 4-5 whistles should suffice.
Heat oil in a small pan; saute the shallots until they turn brown.
Add it to the cooked dal.

Your cherupayar parippu moleshyam is ready.
You can server it with hot rice along with other dishes.
